As a footballer, let’s just say his achievements were limited. Probably the slowest person ever to play in a Down SFC match, and probably the only person in history to play 19 consecutive seasons of reserve football. But “Wobbs” has always found ways to make himself invaluable, usually in the form of backroom roles, organising people, and writing unnecessarily long match reports. He held the reins for the reserve team for most of the 2000s, and was a senior selector alongside Hugh McGettigan during the Division II 2007 promotion season.
These days he’s a Senior Committee member and the club’s webmaster, and also likes to think himself as a key part of the darts set-up.
