Joe Murphy debuts for Down

And even picks up his customary yellow card!

Published by Anthony McNamee on 3rd January 2016.

Congratulations to Ballyholland midfielder Joe Murphy on making his Down senior debut, against Donegal in the McKenna Cup today in Ballybofey.

It was his first appearance in the red and black since the All Ireland under-21 final in 2007, and in lining out at left half-forward, Joey followed in his brother Paul’s footsteps by gaining senior team recognition.

He also continued his remarkable record of getting booked in every game that anyone can ever remember.

Hopefully those are the first of many steps for him in a Down jersey. Best wishes for the season Joe.
